All Good Things Must Come to an End
Article Outline
I am not sure where the saying “All good things must come to an end” came from. After many months of agonizing over a potential move, I have decided to retire, once again, from Colorado State University (CSU) and join the faculty at the University of Kentucky, Department of Veterinary Science (Gluck Equine Research Center). After nearly 33 years at one institution, it is very difficult to uproot and move on to a new challenge.
However, things are in great hands at CSU with Dr. Pat McCue now Director of the Equine Reproduction Laboratory and by other great researchers and clinicians, including Drs. Elaine Carnevale, Jason Bruemmer, Gordon Woods, and Dave Denniston. I am sure I will continue to collaborate with this great bunch at Colorado State over the next several years and continue to work on research projects together.
My new assignment at the Gluck Center is Executive Director of the Gluck Foundation and research scientist in the Department of Veterinary Science. Dr. Mats Troedsson has joined the Gluck Center as the Department Chair and Director of the Gluck Center. This department at Kentucky, has world-class scientists in the areas of infectious diseases, immunology, parasitology, equine genomics, musculoskeletal, reproduction, and pharmacology.
Somebody just recently told me that, once in a while, it is good to be replanted and repotted so that you can become even more productive. I am looking forward to this new challenge.
