The Integrated Plan
Article Outline
Last month we gave you the big picture of our vision for the “new” JEVS. This month we would like to expand on that big picture with more details. What are the specific steps we plan to take to maximize the usability and influence of the future JEVS? First, it is important for us to plan by taking stock of existing conditions in our profession, both locally and globally, thereby exploring interrelationships between all arenas of the veterinary industry. In other words—establish a structure for success by coordinating the many varied interests of our readers and Editorial and Advisory Boards. We encourage your participation in this process by taking a few moments to let us know what you like and what you do not like! We are all a team, and incorporating the visions of many will result in the best final product. We refer to this as our “integrated plan,” which incorporates all of your professional needs into a valuable monthly resource. Each individual's gifts and experiences in life, both personally and professionally, may be of interest and assistance to others. I know we are most likely “preaching to the choir” as we lay out this vision, but if we are off key, then the tune and tone must change.
We also believe we have an obligation to educate the general public about who we are as a profession, exploring the medical and social benefits and, in the process, improving health care of the horse and, hopefully, improving their lives as well. Our vocation needs to be elevated in the minds of the general public; we feel this is an imperative public relations challenge. We intend to work to enhance the public's image and significance of the veterinary profession and particularly the equine clinician.
With your input and positive support, we will continue to evolve into a journal that is informative and useful for all. We believe GREAT STRIDES EMERGE FROM GREAT ATTITUDES! Enjoy this month's issue—thank you for your continued support!
