Editorial—Dr. James Orsini
Article Outline
Dear Colleagues:
With this issue, I join Dr. Ed Squires in “rolling out” the new and improved Journal of Equine Veterinary Science (JEVS). We are combining the many quality features of Clinical Techniques in Equine Practice (CTEP) with JEVS. I know Ed has been working very hard to reenergize this long-established journal for our equine colleagues, and my role as Associate Editor is to assist in this goal by including the outstanding clinical features of CTEP, as well as other new aspects, to JEVS. Dr. Squires and I met several months ago to brainstorm my role as his lieutenant and to improve the journal so that each time you receive your copy you will find something of interest for your clinical practice. Several of the new sections to look for include: topical issues presented as a series over several months, practice tips from our readers to assist in practicing better medicine and surgery every day, and unusual case reports not published before. The 4th International Equine Conference on Laminitis and Diseases of the Foot provided a tremendous resource of cutting-edge research and practical information and we will feature many of these presentations over the next 12 months.
With every engagement and eventual marriage there is a “honeymoon,” a reality check, a readjustment in lifestyles, priorities, and agendas, and then establishment of a routine that fits both parties; we are in this for the long haul and expect this marriage to survive. Ed and I are committed to providing the most comprehensive overview of equine health issues each month. As always, we welcome any comments and suggestions you may have so that we can publish the best information for our readers. We thank you for your continued support and interest in JEVS. Our email addresses are, for Ed Squires: edward.squires@colostate.edu and for Jim Orsini: orsini@vet.upenn.edu. Here's to a marriage made in heaven!
