Editorial—New Look for JEVS

Article Outline

They say that you can't tell a book by its cover. This may be true, but I must admit that some covers are more inviting than others. Beginning with this issue of Journal of Equine Veterinary Science, the Journal is getting a new look, both inside and out.

When we first began discussing updating the Journal format, I went back and looked at old copies of JEVS since 1981. Dr. Bill Jones showed a lot of innovation and creativity on some of these covers of the Journal. He used a variety of cover illustrations, including scenery, western paintings and pictures of veterinary clinics, giving each issue a different look.

For the design premiering this month, we have taken a different approach. As you will see, the new design consists of a two-tone cover, blue and yellow. Having a consistent look to the cover is more in line with many of the other journals Elsevier currently publishes. Inside, the Journal will continue to include its regular sections: Original Research, Case Reports, What's News, Current Research, Meeting Reports, and Viewpoint. Other occasional sections will include Hospital of the Month and Book Reviews. The new look for these sections will continue the design shown on the cover, with section headings in blue and outlined in yellow.

While we are excited about the new look to the Journal, content remains of primary importance. We encourage our readers to continue to submit good, quality information—original research, case studies, review articles, and viewpoint articles—for publication in JEVS.
