Authors and reviewers
Article Outline
I have appreciated all of the phone calls and e-mails that I have received supporting me in my new role as Editor of the Journal of Equine Veterinary Science. This new role has certainly stretched me to broaden my areas of interest. The success of the Journal is dependent on receiving quality articles in all areas of veterinary medicine. I would encourage those that have not recently published in JEVS to consider submitting research articles, clinical cases, reviews, or book reviews.
The other important component for success is identifying reviewers who are able to provide objective, complete, and timely reviews. Having reviewed many articles for several scientific journals over the years, I am aware of the time commitment involved in providing a thoughtful review. Often in academia, we do not get the proper credit for reviewing articles. I realize that potential reviewers have many time commitments as well as review requests from other journals, and I appreciate each review that is completed, as well as suggestions of other possible reviewers when a review cannot be provided. It is refreshing to find young scientists and clinicians who are willing and even eager to perform such a valuable service.
I am looking forward to meeting new contributors and reviewers in 2006.
